Our Nation Needs Us: Message from Sankalp on 67th Independence Day

Submitted by sankalp on

Nothing comes for free. Never. Someone needs to pay the price. Independence of our nation does not imply that this nation will transform by itself. Someone, somewhere will have to desire, strive for and achieve every little step in the direction for betterment of this nation. The sentiment is high in media and on social networks. The opinions are getting more articulated in the educated section of the society. But let it be known and well understood that no amount of opinion and wish-list counts. What counts is the conversion of thoughts into actions.

Independence Day 2010

Volunteers of Sankalp Indian Foundation celebrated the 63rd independence Day. The program started with the singing of the National Anthem. What followed was a rich discussion in which volunteers shared the ways in which they celebrated the festival of independence when they were young. Then we had a discussion on the relevance of patriotism and the role that individuals like us can play to be truly deserving the independence that we have got.

Disaster Preparedness is an absolutely important part of Sankalp volunteer's life.

And then she said .. "Did you not blog about this?"

Umm.. And so this is here. Last Monday, the morning after the Independence day, I was woken up with a phone call. It told me something that reminded me of 5 years younger me on the roads picking up the Tiranga's that could be seen through the mist that engulfs the mountains in the rainy seasons :)
