For Student having Placement ahead...

I thought of sharing my collage to cooperate switching experience with all of you. You may find it bit long but you will appreciate it only if you read it till the end.

After enjoying my last few semester (after placement) and finishing off all the formalities of the university (ie. 8th sem project and exams etc...). I was ready for the cooperate life.

After collage I had got good holidays of 3 month which I enjoyed to the most. Now after all this fun and masti finally the day came (4th Sep) when I entered cooperate life. It was a day I was waiting silently for a long time, fully prepared (mentally) to start my professional life. Slowly days start passing as in starting days we only had to listen to PPT about soft skills, workplace etiquette, Phone Etiquette etc etc...Slowly 15 days were over and our technical training started.

I thought that was the time I was waiting for to win the world. But it was little dis-appointing to note that again in technical training we had nearly same schedule, to listen to lecturer and do some hands-on(lab exercise) which was like a child play. We used to get some assignment and deadline but that was too simple to make me tense. I tried to finish work as far as possible. But I could remain relaxed as most (80%) people never submitted their assignment.

Slowly pressure started building. We were asked to submit all assignment towards the end last. We had some special design exercise which makes sure that all people go through tremendous pressure. I worked hard and stretched myself as far as I can to give my best. Finally the training comes to end and I left with mixed feeling as I had completed training with decent score but deep inside I was not happy person as I had expected more from it.

Today when I look-back I can say that it taught me one of the most important lessons which I had always heard read but never understood. That was: ITS ONLY ATTITUDE THAT MATTER.

By now you must be wondering what attitude has to do with all this. Let me explain: In life we face many challenges (small/big). Challenge need not to be like as its shown in films where your life is involved in it. Challenges can be as simple as participating in collage competition or facing vtu exams or dealing with unusual situation in life. We have lot of options to face these situations like simply doing things half heartedly or trying to do well or doing well or stretching your self as far as possible or doing it in the right way by giving what ever it requires (hard work, courage, and separation).

ATTITUDE of person is all about choosing one among this path, which slowly become its habit. I had written in last paragraph that I worked hard as much as I could. This is because this is my attitude. So it has become my habit and it remains same when I joined corporate life. It does not change overnight.

I am sharing this experience with all of you because I feel it important after I came to know that juniors (who are having placement this semester) are choosing easy path (Quick Fix approach like Personality Development course). By this they will land up in one of few starting companies as its a matter of pride to get selected as soon as possible. But this approach will become habit without there knowing and they will realize it in there latter life.

I hope I have made my point clear. Before choosing any path, think again. You may feel that it is very difficult right now but you will like choosing it after it for the rest of your life. The people in who are in cooperate life can also share there view.

Moral of story: ITS ATTITUDE THAT MATTER AT LAST.

"Quick Fix approach like Personality Development course" Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ah ah aha ah ah How true how true For everyone still in college, I must say that the words above are manna falling from the heaven above. In other words, these are the golden words that may show you the right path. in case you do fail to see it now, you will see it after the suffering. We seniors/pass-out suffered from many things. i guess Jayesh does not want to see you suffer that way. Believe it and do it.

When someone advice Juniors to do something a particular way, they seem to ignore the idea. They think that the seniors who are advising are special people or they think they are mad. What they do not understand is that it is not that the seniors are special and so they made those hard choices in life. It is because they made those hard choices, and did not quit till the end, that makes them special. When they think that they are mad, I have nothing to say. If being mad can make you feel good about yourself, why not be mad.

so true Jayesh sir... quick fix approach may or may not work but attitude approach always work. My experience with placement says that if u just be yourself, concentrate on your studies & work and take placement like as an opportunity to prepare for your CAT, GATE, GRE etc it gives better result. If one is really desperate for getting placed in Core Company then only thing which matters is positive attitude and strong technical knowledge. If you have these two qualities, I feel you don’t need any personality development course. And one last thing which I would like to mention..for me best forum to improve personality is Sankalp. The amount of exposure I got here proved to be enough to evolve myself. Now it’s up to me how I take this opportunity....again ATTITUDE which matters.
