Shortage of Blood in Blood Banks

SHORTAGE OF BLOOD IN BLOOD BANKS: Students busy with their exams;Reduction in blood Donation -Every year their is blood shortage by 4 lac units in the state -The city alone needs 2500 units everyday FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS THE SHORTAGE OF BLOOD IN BLOOD BANKS IS HIGHLIGHTED. THE 90% OF THE DONORS WHO COME FORWARD TO DONATE DONT KNOW WHERE TO DONATE BLOOD. HEALTHY PEOPLE ITSELF BEING HESITANT TO DONATE BLOOD IS A MATTER OF CONCERN. SPECIAL REPORT BANGALORE:As the fever of exams raising in the silicon city Bangalore the fear of blood shortage has come up. This shortage may increase in May, June. All over the states there is a fever of exams.Students have their major share in blood donation. since their can not be blood donation camps, there is high demond or blood. Every year there is a shortage of 4 lac blood units.Bangalore city alone faces the shortage of 1.5 lac units. Every day in Bangalore there is a requirement of 2 to 2500 units of blood. According to Karnataka Aids Control Society Blood bank blood donors number is coming down day bi day. If blood is donated it leads to weakness.. this fear is the main reason for blood shortage. In the past one week itself rural people coming to Rastrothana blood bank itself is notisable. Comparing to urban people arranging blood for rural people is difficult. ACCIDENTS COUNT IS IN INCREASING ORDER WHILE BLOOD IS DECREASING: Along with fast growing Bangalore accidents count is also increasing everyday.With in a short time after an accident the necessry blood should be provided. Many a times there have been deaths because of short of required group. Many people prefer to donate blood when their relatives and freinds suffer accidents. this is also an important reason for short of blood. Donors should come forward voluntarily to donate blood.The practice of blood donation has gone down. Donating blood improve your health it does not spoil health says Dr Raju Chandrashekar from Red Cross Society. HUGE DEMOND FOE BLOOD: Blood is must for all major operations.This way there is an acute demond for blood in the city. Rashstrothana Parishat issues daily 80 to 100 units. There are 20 blood banks all over the city. Country requires 7.5 million units every year. Even in Nimhans hospital there was blood shortage in the previous year. This time such shortage is not noticed.But in May and June there is a fear of facing the problem, says Rastrothana blood bank cheife Sundar. Previous in october because of heavy rains there was a huge threat.Atleast for two weeks there were no blood donation camps. There are no sophesticated blood banks. In kind of requirement and emergencies you have to go to disrict blood banks. To solve this poblem the previous Govt had given statement regarding opening blood banks at Taluk levels.But the question here is to what level the implementation is there.
