I am going to share my experience with a mobile application called: TRUE CALLER. Please read ahead if you are concerned about your and your dear one's PRIVACY.
Background of the story:
Yesterday, I was surprised to see that my mobile number was publicly available in the web and everyone from anywhere in the world could access it. I think this is a serious breach of privacy. Inspite of me being the owner of my mobile number, I don't have control over it. This privacy breach is done by an application called TRUECALLER (http://www.
How TrueCaller works?
When a person installs this application in his/her phone, all phonebook contacts gets updated to TRUECALLER database. This way overall database at TrueCaller keeps on growing. So even if you shared your phone number with only one of your friends who is a TrueCaller user, your number has been shared with TrueCaller and if you call any other TrueCaller user, you won't be anonymous.
Also, there are other ways in which truecaller updates its database.
My Appeal:
- If you are really concerned about your and your friend's privacy, please don't install this application.
- If you already have installed, Uninstall it!!
- If you are hard core fan of this application and don't want to uninstall, please understand that you are indirectly breaching your near and dear one's privacy. Think!!
