Voluntary Blood Donation: Selfless and beautiful

Submitted by sankalp on

The innate selflessness of the voluntary blood donation is intriguing.

When someone comes forward to contribute in order to help someone who they don't even know - who they will never meet - the contribution is the purest! When someone comes forth willingly to accept a small bit of pain in order to give hope to someone - it is a beautiful moment! When I go to a blood donation drive as a volunteer and see numerous individuals come and volunteer to donate blood - I am witnessing a revolution - a situation from the poems - from the speeches of the leaders come to life. Willingly, happily, with a smile glued to their face they come and roll up their sleeves! I often ask the donors to close their eyes and spend some time on the bed after finishing the donation. Yes there are medical reasons for that as well. But more importantly, I want them to spend some time talking to themselves and letting the full realisation of what they have done sink in. And I love to see them cherish that moment - that pure moment in their life - when they stood for what is right! Blood donation drives are refreshing! They are enchanting! Where else would you find so much beauty coming together. When else would you find so many people coming together for good!

Thank you Blood Donors! You Are The Real Selfless Heroes!
