Independence Day updates 2008

Independence Day:
On Independence Day, the volunteers went to various schools and spread the message of respecting our National Flag, that is they should not be thrown down and stamped upon. Also, there was a programme especially for the volunteers to express their feelings for their Motherland. Read more about it here.

The message that was taken to the students was to reduce the use of plastic and paper National Flags as they are usually thrown down after use. In case, they have to be used, then the Flags have to be taken back and preserved safely. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs supports the same cause. Read more about it here

(a)Schools: After Ramaiah School and Chinmaya Vidyalaya, the volunteers are set to conduct Blood Awareness weeks in Adarsha Vidyalaya and RT Nagar Public School this week. With the feedback, experience and the learning they got to do at the previous schools, our volunteers are finding better, efficient and creative ways to communicate the importance of voluntary blood donation. More learning and better communication along with a large number of motivated individuals in the future who will be regular voluntary donors is the aim of these volunteers.

(b)Companies: On Sunday (24th August), a blood donation drive is held in Komarla Apartments. The initiative was taken from one of the donors’ for Sankalp. The Team Red has been formed and the Awareness campaign is going on. Expecting about 100 units to be collected that day and thus one blood bank will be called. Read more about it here.
