After our visit to the shopping malls last weekend and experiencing a disappointing response, Sankalp volunteers turned to the Educational Institutions to spread out the word about Siachen and provide the young and the enthusiastic children an opportunity to show their gratitude to the soldiers at Siachen.
Project Tiranga (Mission Siachen) volunteers went to the Press office (on Friday) to get the Newspapers' to report about our Mission. It had dual purpose: one is to create awareness about Siachen among common people and then to give them a chance to express their feelings by filling up a postcard.This week marks the beginning of almost all the Sankalp volunteer’s first real-life activities. There are 2 activities going on simultaneously. The Project Tiranga volunteers are to start working on “Mission Siachen”, spread the word about Siachen and make and collect as many hand-made postcards as possible, with 26th January as deadline basis. Blood Donation Organization (BDO) volunteers (freshers) would start taking blood requests by accompanying a senior volunteer.

On 23rd June one of the volunteer received a call from school administrator regarding the need of COPIES for the children for new session. After talking with school administrator in person, We got to know the requirement of 700 COPIES for children. One of the Sankalp volunteer share this with his friends and other sankalp volunteer. People came forward with full heart and contribute for the children. Many of them came forward to visit school on 30th June 2007. |
