He encouraged his friends to participate and was able to convince 2 of his friends to participate. At the end of the essay competition, another 6 students acknowledged to participate and the number rose to 9. The competition took place at the audiovisual room and the event started at 1:45 p.m. The help of an English teacher was sought to judge the event.

After the competitions got over, we were put across many questions from the students and the amount of interest showed the level of motivation the kids are able to gain if they are shown a right direction.

Selected Quotes from participants:

“ It is only in human beings that human blood is made and circulated. For those who require blood for saving their lives, sharing from other fellows is the only means. Hence donation rather voluntary donation is the only way of accumulating blood at safe storage to meet emergency requirements for saving lives. “
- Kavya .N, 8 A

“ When we have the right to take in the blood when we are injured, we have a responsibility to donate blood to the concerned banks and save other’s lives and become a super hero."

" My wish is to prevent the people from the trouble of searching for blood in streets. “
- S.Vijaya Ranjani, 9 A

“ Not only in the time of need, but also donate blood regularly once in 3 months. “
- M.Karthika, 8 B

“ The blood banks are not able to provide blood, why? Because there are about 50 blood banks and Karnataka has only 55% voluntary blood donation. But if we wish, we can make a change, we can bring that 55% to 95% at least, because we youngsters understand and voluntarily donate blood than the middle age people.

" When you care for the world, God cares for you. “
- Brinda .M., 9 A

“ If you want blood, call 080-1062 for asking in which blood bank that blood group is available and get it. “

Feedback from School

“ It was a pleasure that you visited our school and explained about the importance of blood donation through the skit. You all spread a lot of awareness and inspired us to donate blood in the future. We came to know about the facts behind blood donation that we were not aware of. This was very helpful for us and people around us.We thank you and promise you to donate blood voluntarily. ”

“ Service to human is service to God "

The awareness campaign conducted by the volunteers of ‘sankalp India foundation’ on 7.08.08 in chinmaya vidyalaya was very interesting and informative. The deliverance of the facts about blood, its importance for survival of humanity was quiet emotional and impressive to the young minds.

A comprehensive skit enacted by the youth force of this voluntary organization has inculcated the value of ‘service’ to an important life saving task.I’m sure that the inestimable effort taken by the budding engineers, to educate our high school children about blood donation has a tremendous impact – creating an interest in volunteering towards this yeoman service at the right time. My good wishes to all the volunteers of ‘sankalp India foundation’. Hope they succeed in capturing more volunteers through their awareness programs.”
- Sathiswari Ramesh Babu
English Teacher

“ Dear friends of Sankalpa Foundation, It is indeed a great service creating awareness among the school students about blood donation. I appreciate your effort; you are taking time from your busy schedule and doing a great job to the society. Wishing you all the great success. “
- Rema Nandakumar
Principal

The volunteers had to introspect and corrected themselves in the faults identified so that they are not repeated again. The idea was to make a paradigm shift towards making the further programs more interactive so as to extract the maximum from our efforts.
