A part of Phase 0 of CTC Disha Awareness campaign was to use BMTC buses as one efficient means to reach out people. Initially, the permission to stick the stickers in all 5000 buses was seeked. But, the permission was given for about 100 buses. So, at Majestic Bus Depot, the buses will sport 6 stickers inside, which says “Looking for Blood in Bangalore: Call (080) 1062”.
As the buses are available only after 10:30pm or in the lunch break between 12:30 and 1:30, the volunteers are making best use of this time. On Saturday (19/04/08), four volunteers stuck 6 stickers each to 47 buses between 10:30 and 12:30. The other 53 buses will be covered soon.
The media visits and hospital visits were slowed down during the previous week, because of internal exams for most of the volunteers. It will continue this week. The volunteers will be approaching Deccan Herald, Praja Vani and Radio City this week.

The students of colleges like KSIT, BMSCE and MVJCE have been approached. The response from the students is awaited until after their internal exams, by the end of this week.
(b)Companies:
There will be camp held in SSS Company on Friday (25/04/08) from 11 am to 4pm in the Hosur Road branch. There are about 400 employees and the expected number of donations will be around 40 units. Thus one Blood Bank will be called, which is Rashtrothana.
Project Shiksha:Swami Vivekanand is a small government aided school in Tyagrajan Nagar near Banshankari BDA complex. The volunteers have been in touch with this school from Republic Day 2007. Since then, Sankalp has been providing help in the best possible ways for to help the dedicated teachers and the enthusiastic students of the school.
Right now, the teachers are being given training to learn spoken English from January. They have been showing a lot of interest and improvement.
The teachers have expressed the necessity of 2 computers in the school, as it is necessary to have a basic computer education. The volunteers have obtained details as the estimated price of each computer being Rs.3500, being sold at a substantial amount.
The volunteers have also felt the need to clean the school and provide a clean environment for the students by white washing the school at around Rs.10,000.

MSRMBDS:
On Saturday (19/04/08) there was a camp held in Ramaiah Medical College, which took place in the Blood Bank. There were 26 donors registered. But due to the lack of space for other donors, donating for the patients and the time constraints, the camp was stopped with 23 donations completed. Two girls felt a little giddy, but no fainting occurred. There was an overall good response from the camp.
The next camp will be on Saturday (26/04/08) in MSRIT. Expected number is 30 donations.
There were 13 cases this week. The requests, mostly for AB-ve and O-ve continues to dominate this week, as it happened throughout the month so far.
There were 2 donations made, of which one was Apheresis and the other unit was O-ve from the IISc database contact.
The discussions continue on Karnataka-wide Blood search options and consolidating the details obtained.
