CTC Disha:
The 2nd anniversary of Disha is coming up on 13th September. This initiative of Sankalp is a blood helpline number 1062, which connects 13 major blood banks in Bangalore. The program which will be held for the occasion will be soon given.
Emergency wing:
There were 11 blood requests in the previous week. But there were no donations done. Almost all the requests were fulfilled by calling 1062 or the other prominent blood banks in the city.
Two of the requests were as follows: the request was for 2 units of AB -ve from M.S. Ramaiah hospital. It was not available in any of the blood banks associated with Disha. Then when the other blood banks were called up, one unit was found in St. John’s blood bank and the other in Wockhart blood bank. But since the patient’s side relative was a lady of around 45 years old lady who was unwilling to go out to other blood banks in the city, as she was alone and from outside Bangalore. At the same time another request for AB –ve. One of the units was reserved for them in Ramaiah blood bank. So the 1st patient was given the reserved unit from Ramaiah and the 2nd patient was asked to collect it from the blood bank in which it was available. This way both the requests were fulfilled.
MSRMBDS:
The small blood donation drives in the MSR group of institutions will start for the semester with a drive this Saturday, which will be held in MSRIT. The expected number of units to be collected is around 30 units.

Due to the semester end exams for the students in all the State Board schools, the Principals are not giving permission for the Blood Awareness Week to be conducted.
