Blood Donation Awareness Week in Shree Bharathi School

On 11th February 2009 ‘Rakta Kranthi School ‘ volunteers were all set to explain another group of students about the importance of voluntary blood donation and the need for them to be more responsible. Shree Bharathi School, located near R T Nagar allowed us to present the program between 11:00 and 12:00.

Skit and informative talk: 11th February 2009
Though the program in this school was delayed by 2 days, it went on as planned. The students interacted well. The newly introduced quiz session caught the attention of students; crowd management is one area where volunteers have to still learn a lot. In all 91 students were addressed in this school.

Competitions: 17th February 2009
All the four competitions saw relatively good response.

Essay Writing: 21 students participated in this competition, each one trying to outdo their friends by expressing their thoughts in the best way they could.

Drawing competition: There were 18 participants for this competition, all of them putting in their best efforts to make their artwork look impressive.

Speech: 4 students came forward to participate, each participant trying to put across all the facts they understood well in a nice manner.

Collage: As in other schools, this was a home event. 3 collages were submitted on the day of competitions.

Prize Distribution: 21st March 2009
A faculty member gave the prizes away to the best performers in their respective classrooms.

Teachers’ feedback:

  • Students learnt a lot about blood donation and its importance.
  • The volunteers were friendly.
  • The volunteers made use of the time well and explained the maximum.

With another set of students aware about blood donation and its importance, we are looking positive about the future.
