Raksha Bandhan is a day for brothers and sisters to reaffirm their bonds of affection. Sisters tie a band on the wrist of their brothers. Brothers, in turn, give their sisters gifts. The festival of Rakhi signifies the love, protection, loyalty; care, and commitment a brother and sister have for each other.

Since the onset of the pandemic, there is a tremendous strain on healthcare including blood transfusion services. Patients suffering from chronic blood disorders like Thalassemia, cancers, pregnant women during childbirth etc. require blood transfusion. But, as the pandemic continues and dengue hits, the struggle for getting access to safe blood has become worse.

There are an estimated 110,000 medical labs in India. Just under one percent of these are even accredited. In places like Bangalore, the concentration of such services is much higher than the national average. And yet, today, Sankalp starts its medical and research labs - the "SANKALP LABS".

Harshith was 3-year-old when we transplanted him in 2016. A lot went into bringing him in for bone marrow transplant.

This is story of a family who fall into the economically weaker section of our society. Raju Hebbali and Ganga Raju Hebbali from Dharwad district were married to each other within the close family circle.  Raju was worked as a coolie who earning a very minimal amount and Ganga was a homemaker with no earnings.
