Initial Assessments

Once you have decided that you are going to work out a Blood donation Drive at your Organization/Office/College, you need to figure out some things. Selection Of Right Date You must identify a suitable date. Selection of date should be such that on that day most people are available to donate blood. Carefully plan the date as this makes a lot of difference to the number of units of blood collected. Avoid camps on early weekdays as this is the time when there is a greater amount of focus on work. But this will be incomplete without mentioning that the final date is decided only in consultation with the Blood Bank. Estimating number of Donations The next thing you need to assess is the tentative number of Blood Donors. If there is a history of blood donation that will help. In case you can organize an online poll, that too will be very good. Speaking with people in general meetings also may give you a fair idea of the number of people to expect. Identifying Volunteers The next thing is the identification of the key people in the organization who may be involved in this activity. Identifying them at an early stage makes sure that you ensure good teamwork. Identification of Suitable Space A large air conditioned room is ideal for donation. If an air-conditioned hall is not there then look for a well ventilated room. Once this is done, You are ready to proceed.
