Voluntary Blood Donation Roundup: April Drives and Collective Impact

April was a month of strong collective action, as organisations and communities came together with Sankalp India Foundation to organise voluntary blood donation drives. Each drive, each donor, and each unit collected contributed to a larger purpose, supporting children living with thalassemia and many others who depend on regular, timely transfusions to survive and live healthier lives.

The month began on a steady and encouraging note. Early drives by Applied Materials, which contributed 102 units, Big Basket with 61 units, and We Work with 5 units helped build momentum right from the start. These initial efforts set the pace for the weeks ahead, showing how consistent participation, even in smaller numbers, plays an important role in strengthening the overall blood supply.

As the month progressed, the scale of support grew significantly. Collins Aerospace led with an outstanding contribution of 585 units collected across three locations, demonstrating the impact of coordinated, multi-location efforts. Cargill Business Services followed with 135 units collected over two days, while Fyres Securities contributed 56 units across two locations. These drives not only added substantial numbers but also reflected a deep sense of responsibility and commitment within corporate teams.

Support also came in from a wide range of institutions and community partners. Haleon contributed 51 units, Vaishnavi Group added 35 units, and SMSG Jain Degree College brought in 19 units through their drive. Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Devasthana contributed 10 units through a camp organised by the Bangalore Navanirman Party, highlighting the important role of community-led initiatives in reaching more donors and expanding awareness.

Behind every number is a person who chose to show up. Someone who took the time to donate, to organise, to encourage others, and to be part of something meaningful. These efforts go far beyond the act of donation itself. They reflect empathy, awareness, and a willingness to stand with patients and their families in a very real way.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every organisation, institution, and community that partnered with us this month. Your support, coordination, and enthusiasm make these drives possible and impactful. It is through your continued commitment that we are able to ensure a safer, more reliable blood supply for those who need it the most.

Together, these contributions form a powerful network of care, one that continues to grow stronger with every drive. And for every patient waiting for a transfusion, that makes all the difference.
