Orientation Training Program for Andhra Pradesh Daycare Coordinators

As Sankalp India Foundation expands its reach through its collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society in Andhra Pradesh, strengthening systems and people becomes essential. To ensure quality and consistency of care across centres, an intensive Orientation Training Program was conducted for four new coordinators from the Andhra Pradesh centres.

They were joined by two experienced coordinators from Parbhani and Aurangabad, creating a powerful peer-learning environment that blended fresh perspectives with field wisdom.

Designed for Real-World Impact

This was not a lecture-based orientation. The training was carefully mapped to Bloom’s Taxonomy, ensuring progressive learning from understanding core concepts to applying and analysing them in real-life scenarios.

Using a flipped classroom method, coordinators engaged with pre-learning material before sessions. Classroom time was then used for application, discussion, and problem-solving. The focus was simple: equip coordinators to handle real, day-to-day challenges confidently and competently.

The entire program was conducted on the Sheal platform and was completely activity-based. Role-plays, group discussions, scenario analysis, and open-book assignments replaced passive listening. Every session demanded participation.

Strengthening Core Competencies

The training covered critical operational and clinical components, including:

  • New Patient Registration: Standardising documentation and ensuring accuracy from the very first interaction.

  • Thalcare Demonstration: Practical, hands-on training aligned with daily centre workflows to ensure seamless patient data management.

  • Chelation Therapy: Dose setting, monitoring protocols, and understanding patient-specific requirements.

  • Patient Counselling: Communication techniques to support families emotionally and medically.

  • Facility Exposure Tours:

    • Bone Marrow Transplant Unit
    • Sankalp Blood Centre
    • Child Care Home
    • STDC

These visits helped coordinators understand the full continuum of care, from safe transfusions to curative treatment and supportive services.

Learning Beyond Theory

Role-play exercises simulated difficult conversations with parents. Case-based discussions explored dosing complexities and compliance challenges. Open-book assignments encouraged coordinators to apply guidelines rather than memorise them.

By the end of the program, participants were not just familiar with processes, they were able to analyse situations, make informed decisions, and collaborate effectively.

Creating Consistency Across Centres

As Sankalp India Foundation grows, maintaining quality and uniformity across locations is critical. This orientation program ensured that coordinators across Andhra Pradesh, Parbhani, and Aurangabad operate with shared standards, shared language, and shared commitment.

Because expansion is not just about opening new centres.
It is about ensuring that every child, in every location, receives the same standard of dignified, safe, and compassionate care.

And that only happens when people are trained not just to follow systems, but to understand them.
