23 Years of Keeping Hope Alive

23 Years of Keeping Hope Alive

For 23 years, Sankalp India Foundation has been driven by a simple refusal: the refusal to accept preventable suffering.

When blood shortages were considered inevitable, volunteers, donors, and communities came together to build voluntary blood donation networks that continue to support thousands of patients today.

When quality healthcare seemed out of reach for many families, systems were created to make care more accessible and affordable.

When bone marrow transplantation was seen as too expensive and complex, protocols, processes, and partnerships were strengthened to make cure a reality for more children.

When prevention at scale appeared impossible, screening, counselling, diagnostics, and awareness were taken closer to communities, helping families make informed choices and giving future generations a better chance at life.

Over the years, this journey has been shaped by countless individuals who believed that things could be different. Families who placed their trust in us. Volunteers who gave their time. Donors who gave blood. Doctors, nurses, counsellors, coordinators, scientists, partners, and supporters who worked tirelessly to build solutions where none existed before.

Together, they built something more powerful than programmes or institutions.

They built hope.

Celebrating a Shared Journey

Sankalp India Foundation's 23rd Anniversary celebration brought together team members, leadership, board members, and well-wishers to reflect on this remarkable journey and the people who have made it possible.

One of the most memorable moments of the event was a moving skit that traced Sankalp's evolution over the past 23 years. Through powerful storytelling and performances, the skit captured the challenges, milestones, and defining moments that have shaped the organisation's journey from a small volunteer-led initiative to a national movement working towards better management, cure, and prevention of hemoglobin disorders.

The celebration also recognised the dedication and commitment of team members through the presentation of Long Service Awards. These awards honoured individuals who have devoted years of service to Sankalp's mission, helping build programmes, support families, and strengthen systems across the country.

Investing in people has always been central to Sankalp's growth. As part of the celebrations, certificates were awarded to participants of Mentor Development Series Cohorts 2, 3, and 4, recognising their commitment to learning, leadership, and professional development. The programme reflects Sankalp's belief that strong teams and future leaders are essential to sustaining impact.

Adding a deeply personal dimension to the event were testimonials from senior employees, who reflected on their experiences, challenges, and memories from their years with the organisation. Their stories highlighted not only the growth of Sankalp but also the resilience, teamwork, and shared purpose that continue to define its culture.

The celebrations were further enriched by musical performances, including a song presentation and an engaging clapbox performance that brought energy and enthusiasm to the gathering.

Looking Ahead

Addressing the audience, Sankalp India Foundation President Rajat Agarwal reflected on the organisation's journey, achievements, and the work that still lies ahead. His message reinforced a belief that has guided Sankalp from the beginning: progress is possible when people come together with conviction, compassion, and a commitment to solving difficult problems.

The event was attended by several members of Sankalp's Board, including Vijender Reddy, whose presence reflected the continued support of leaders and partners who have contributed to the organisation's growth and vision.

Against All Odds

Twenty-three years is a milestone worth celebrating. Yet the anniversary was not only about looking back. It was also a reminder of why Sankalp exists.

There are still families who need access to care. There are still children waiting for a cure. There are still communities where awareness remains limited. And there are still pregnancies that are not being screened for thalassemia and sickle cell disease.

The challenges remain significant, but so does the determination to address them.

Twenty-three years later, Sankalp India Foundation continues to stand by the belief that preventable suffering should never be accepted as inevitable.

The mission remains unchanged.

To give every child a better chance.

To keep hope alive.

And to continue moving towards a future where thalassemia and sickle cell disease no longer cast a shadow over the lives of families across India.
