“When Rashiddhya, was diagnosed with thalassemia major at three-and-a-half months, we were terrified. We thought everything was over,” recalls her mother from Akola.

During pregnancy, she had undergone every test advised, yet no one explained that thalassemia could be a possibility or that screening could reveal the risk. Looking back, she speaks with painful honesty:

“Had I known, I would have chosen not to continue the affected pregnancy, not because I love Rashiddhya any less, but because I have seen how much she suffered. I would never want another child to go through that.”

Rashiddhya’s twin sister became her donor, and the BMT took place last March. “The journey was frightening, but Sankalp stood like a rock beside us through every difficult moment.”

Today, more than a year later, Rashiddhya is healthy, happy and enjoying her childhood.

“She has suffered a lot. But after everything she has overcome, I look at her today and see my warrior.”
