Schools: The young and inquisitive minds are open to knowledge. And our volunteers have prepared themselves to educate the children about the importance of voluntary blood donation. The Principals were approached, the permissions were obtained and the effort which were taken were put to test for the first time with the Blood Awareness Week starting off in M.S. Ramaiah School on Monday (04/08/08). The other school to follow this week will be Chinmaya Vidyalaya where the Blood Awareness Week will start on Thursday (07/08/08).
On August 24th, Sankalp will organize a Blood Donation drive, for the first time, in a group of apartments called Komarla Brigade Residency. The camp will be held in the party hall from 10 am to 5 pm. The initiative was taken from one of the Emergency Donor for Sankalp.
BDO Emergency wing:
Through CTC Disha stocks, it is clear that the blood stocks in the city are nearly twice as it was in the summer months around May. This has however, not reduced the number of requests that our Emergency team fulfills everyday. But the noticeable change is that most of the requests have been for Apheresis units rather than for whole blood.
The total number of blood requests for the whole month of July was 68. And the last week had about 6 donations made from Sankalp donors, all of which were Apheresis donations.
