On 17-11-2012 at 10:33 AM Sankalp got a call informing about a girl from Indore who was detected to have the Bombay Blood Group. Her hemoglobin was reported to be 1.4 gm/dl after having delivered a still baby. The doctors wanted 3-4 units of blood to be sent to Indore immediately. While the organisation explored all the options, another news was in the making. Bal Thackerey died in Mumbai.
An exclusive portal for people who have the Bombay Blood Group was launched on October 2nd 2012. This is the first of it’s kind platform which will bring together all the individuals with this rare blood group and seek to address their concerns on blood requirement.
Recently Sankalp India Foundation came across a rare situation. In the week from 24-30 June 2012 the organization got requests from 8 different patients for Bombay Blood Group. The following are the blood requests which were received:
The first ever meeting of the very special people who have the rarest of rare Bombay Blood Group (BBG) was organised by Sankalp India Foundation on 1st July 2012. Though many more donors were expected to attend the program, eventually we had the participation of 9 BBG donors and 6 family members. The few hours spent together led to extremely productive discussions which should go a long way in improving the availability of BBG for the Society.
A meeting is for Bombay Group donors across Karnataka is being organized in NIMHANS on 1st July, 2012.
