Summer is approaching....

Rakta Kranti:
(a) Colleges: Towards the end of the semester, the colleges and students’ are busy to be approached. Hence, the volunteers are now working to build up a strong foundation, by getting all the necessary details of all the colleges. This would help them, to approach the colleges next semester.

Other team is also planning for preparation for the awareness programs in schools. The activity is expected to begin by June, when the schools re-open.

The volunteers from Sapthagiri College are also preparing a Emergency donor’s database of students from that college.

(b) Companies: Third blood donation drive at ITPL on Friday (9/04/08) from 12.30 pm to 9 pm. Expected number of donations is around 600. There will be four blood banks on the campus.

BDO:

The approaching summers are already showing its effects on the blood stocks in Bangalore. There has been a definite increase in the number of cases received and also the number of donations done, due to unavailability of blood in any of Blood banks.

Last week, there were 32 cases and 8 donations done. This was mainly done for AB+ve and A-ve for which the whole city had no stocks. The volunteers are working on consolidating the information obtained for the Karnataka wide Blood search options. Also, the negative donor database is being worked upon, wherein the volunteers have set a target to register atleast 5 donors per week.

The situation is expected to improve (atleast slightly) after the Friday camp in ITBL.

MSRMBDS:

There will be a camp held in MSRIT on Tuesday (6/04/08). Expected number of donations is around 30 units. The previous camp was supposed to be held in MSRIT/ Medical College was cancelled.

The next camp will be held in MSRIT on Saturday (17/04/08), which will be the last camp from MSRIT for this semester.
