October 2010: Internal Housekeeping @ Sankalp

Although the Blood Donation Organisation including the Emergency Wing, Disha and Rakta Kranti make up the core working wings of Sankalp India Foundation, there are small other teams who do not face the world but provide tons of support to these core working wings. Be it the administration wing, finance wing, resources or public relations these internal teams are ina a way holding the teams tightly bound. These teams too have been busy over the last few days fixing a lot of internal issues.

Sankalp's Emergency Wing: Continuing to be the great Ray Of Hope

The entire worforce @ Sankalp follows one mantra. Looking for blood? Call 9480044444. That is the number of the Disha helpline. The helpline guides people to the nearest place where safe blood is available. But sometimes there is no way, there is no place either near or far where the unit is available. What then. Is there that someone or something that can help?

Sankalp's Rakta Kranti Karnataka gets going again

2009 was the year when Sankalp became a full blown state wide organisation. All 3 major workin wings of Sankalp, namely the Emergency Wing, Disha and Rakta Kranti spread their wings. Disha connected the best blood banks across the state to the helpline. Volunteers of the emergeny wing took up blood requests from every nook and corner of the state and learnt about how effectively to handle blood emergencies. Rakta Kranti was split wide open into Rakta Kranti Bangalore and Rakta Kranti Karnataka.

The cry

Submitted by pooja on
There she was, lying on the hospital bed, crying and shouting in pain. She was surrounded by all of us in white coats. Her eyes ,sometimes tightly closed in pain and sometimes wide open to see what is happening to her. Whenever her eyes opened ,it told us-' do something!I'm in pain! '. But all we could do was to stand and wait, thinking why she should undergo all this pain?? Then at 11:30 am we heard a cry again,a very meek cry,a cry we were all waiting for,the cry of the angel she brought on earth! And suddenly we notice that the lady stopped screaming, stopped crying!
