The need for blood is growing day by day, hence is the need for awareness. Another school that permitted us to conduct the Blood Awareness Program was Iyer High School, located in the main market of Mathikere.The school management without any hesitation allowed us to carry out the program in the first week of February.

copyright @ Sourav RoyIt was early February and my exams had just got over. Exams had gone well, but as usual; I never hoped for good results (and they never happen either). It had been a great semester. I reached home on 5th Feb. Baba (dad) had planned a trip to Assam & Meghalaya, starting from 6th Feb.
We reached Kolkata, early in the morning; on the 7th of Feb. Our train to Guwahati was at 4 in the evening so we had almost the whole day. Baba decided to take us to Belur Math.
I had a very difficult time trying to sleep the night before last.
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, located near the historic town of Srirangapatna, in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka in India, is an important tourist destination from Mysore city orthe adjoining Vrindavan gardens, both of which are barely 20 km away. It is a very small sanctuary, being only 0.67 km². in area, and comprises six islets on the banks of the Kaveri River. The isolated islets and the abundance of aquatic insects during the monsoon make Ranganathittu a favorite abode for birds.
Ranganathittu attained the status of a bird sanctuary in 1940, courtesy of the visions of India’s noted ornithologist. Dr. Salim Ali observed that the isles formed an important nesting ground for birds, and persuaded the Wodeyar kings of Mysore to declare the area a wildlife sanctuary in 1940.
On 1st of March 2009 we got a request for blood for an anaemic patient. On further dialogue we came to know that patient is admitted in a Government hospital and needs Bombay Blood group units. Doctor informed us that at least 5 units will be required in a period of 3-4 days as patient was suffering from severe anaemia.
