The responsibilities include:

General examination and monitoring of chronically transfused individuals
Overseeing blood transfusion
Management of Iron overload/Chelation
Management of complications associated with chronic transfusion
Preparation of children eligible for BMT
Involve in Scientific studies and publications related to low cast thalassemia management
Be responsible for overseeing other staff and operations of the day care centre
Involve in counselling of families and promotion of prevention programs
