Rakta Kranti schools starting this week

Schools: The young and inquisitive minds are open to knowledge. And our volunteers have prepared themselves to educate the children about the importance of voluntary blood donation. The Principals were approached, the permissions were obtained and the effort which were taken were put to test for the first time with the Blood Awareness Week starting off in M.S. Ramaiah School on Monday (04/08/08). The other school to follow this week will be Chinmaya Vidyalaya where the Blood Awareness Week will start on Thursday (07/08/08).

Rocket Artillary in War

A military tactic developed by Tippu Sultan and his father, Haidar Ali was the use of mass attacks with rocket brigades on infantry formations. Tippu Sultan wrote a military manual called Fathul Mujahidin in which 200 rocket men were prescribed to each Mysorean "cushoon" (brigade). Mysore had 16 to 24 cushoon of infantry. The areas of town where rockets and fireworks were manufactured were known as Taramandal Pet ("Galaxy Market").

History of Indian space research

India's experience in rocketry began in ancient times when fireworks were first used in the country, a technology invented in neighbouring China, and which had an extensive two-way exchange of ideas and goods with India, connected by the Silk Road. Military use of rockets by Tipu Sultan during the Mysore War against the British inspired William Congreve to invent the Congreve rocket, predecessor of modern artillery rockets, in 1804.
