Jawaharlal Nehru University is located in New Delhi, the national capital of India. Established in 1969, the varsity in the quarter century of its existence, has carved out a distinctive niche for itself in the academic and intellectual life of India. Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in northeastern India. It is also called the only in the world due to the floating Phundies on it. It is located near Moirang in Manipur state. It was designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention on March 23, 1990. It is an ancient lake and plays an important role in the economy of Manipur. It serves as a source of water for hydropower generation, irrigation and drinking water supply. The lake is also a source of livelihood for the rural fishermen who live in the surrounding areas and on Phumdis - floating islands, which are actually heterogeneous mass of vegetation, soil, and organic matters at various stages of decomposition. Loktak lake is considered to be the lifeline of the State of Manipur due to its importance in the socio-economic and cultural life of the people.

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has assembled `KALI-5000' is a powerful electron accelerating machine assembled by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, which, its scientists say, can potentially be used as a beam weapon.

Bursts of microwaves packed with gigawatts of power (one gigawatt is 1000 million watts) produced by this machine, when aimed at enemy missiles and aircraft, will cripple their electronics systems and computer chips and bring them down.
