This article has been penned by a student of Jain College Of Engineering, Belgaum. This comes after a successful blood donation drive held there on 4 May 2012. This student, Ms Ashwini was a part of an enthusiastic team red that worked on every aspect of the drive to make it one of the most memorable events in their college.

Instituted on 26 Jan 1950, to recognize the most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy, Param Vir Chakra is the highest war-time award for armed forces in India. The award is the second highest by Government of India after Bharat Ratna.
