While voluntary blood donation camps are improving in terms of their adherence to national and global standards are concerned, a major area which continues to remain neglected is that of donor counselling. Most blood banks do not have a trained counsellor to attend the drives and even those who take up the responsibility lack the necessary focus and skill.
On 19th February 2015 a group of people with very high interest in improving care and management for thalassemia came together in a room to explore the next steps for thalassemia management.
The intention was to share and to learn in an environment which maximizes learning and fosters cooperation.
Sankalp India Foundation have always focused on strategic planning of blood donation drives to ensure availability of blood throughout the year.
The end of month of September was particularly busy for Team Sankalp as we geared up to offer HLA typing to about 200 families.
A new step forward has been made in our mission to ensure that children suffering from Thalassemi
