The second phase started with a bang. The RK Schools team visited 2 schools on the same day to create among the students for Voluntary Blood Donation Awareness. In the afternoon we visited Hindu Balika Patashala to meet a batch of enthusiastic students. After checking with the school schedules and initial hesitation, the principal gave us permission to conduct the awareness program.

Disha: Continuing to network

CTC Disha continued spreading awareness about the helpline number in various government hospitals like NIMHANS, Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Kidwai. The rest of the government hospitals including the government Maternity hospitals which were not targeted in the last awareness phase will be covered this year.

Loss of human touch...

Sankalp as an organization has been growing at a steady rate. We now have dedicated set of volunteers who are probably the best people to do the work they do, with less number of people to replace them and do the same quality of work. So, as of now, all of us are working in our respective wings, in turn actually working towards a common goal, eliminating blood shortage problem.

Just read about the controversy about RGV's new firm "Rann". Inquisitively I clicked youtube to checkout the promos. And to my horror I found this ghastly director has dared to play around with the lyrics of the National Anthem. Listening to the initial beats I stated getting up from my chair but within a second I realised that this movie has crossed all limits and seems to be exploiting the freedom of speech and expression in the worst kind of way.

Second Blood Donation Drive at Keane

Keane software, who earlier had a drive with Sankalp would wish to organise a second blood donation drive with Sankalp. The company have themselves come forward and expressed their intention. Considering the summer time, this is a great gesture from them and this drive will surely be a boon to many in the city. It is scheduled to be held on Friday, 8 May, 2009

Shatabdi Trains: The fast and the furious!

Shatabdi Express is the distinctive train service provided by the Indian Railways. In India, Shatabdi Express is a superfast passenger train connecting the major cities, metro towns and business centers. Indian Railways run a series of superfast Shatabadi Express trains to facilitate people in commuting to different places.Shatabdi Express are day-trains and they return to the station of origin the same day.

Shatabdi Express is an intercity train that doesn't cover long distances. It is one of the two fastest trains in India, the other being Rajdhani Express. Esteemed service of the Indian Railways, Shatabdi Express Trains usually run over short distances. The regular speed of these trains is known to be 130 kilometers per hour.

Blood Donation Drive @ CGIndigo

One of the key contacts who always co-ordinated with Sankalp for blood donation drives @ Capgemini has moved on to take over at a new office called Indigo. When Sankalp got in touch with him for a blood donation drive at Capgemini, this was known and the company has decided to organise one at this new venture too. Kudos to them for being so cooperative at a time when the city needs voluntary blood donations. The drive is scheduled for the 7th of May, 2009
