Are we obsessed with Americans?
Looking at the recent coverage of American Presidential election and the swearing in or Obama in the Indian Media (not to forget the table top discussions that have Obama as the buzz word), will it be fair to say that Indians in general are obsessed with Americans?
The Hypocrisy of Indian Politics
Many years ago, before the satellite TV revolution, there used to be a video newsmagazine called Newstrack that I rather enjoyed. There is one scene from it that I still remember. If memory serves me right, it began with a shot of the bottom of Devi Lal's sports shoes as he reclined on a garden chair, his foot rested on some kind of support. (I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember he wore a banyan and a dhoti on top.) An interview began, and the interviewer asked him why he had made his son, Om Prakash Chautala, the chief minister of Haryana.
Disha takes Mysore into it's stride
After having an eventful day at Mangalore, the Sankalp Disha expansion team moved on to visit Bangalore's sister city of Mysore. Again sufficient background work and inputs from senior transfusion specialists from Bangalore meant that the plan was well in place for another day of extreme buzzing.
Disha engulfs Southern coastal Karnataka
Taking Disha across Karnataka is an activity that will take some time to materialise. Sankalp however, has made a firm and sedate start to this activity. Phase 1 of the expansion plan is to visit the major medical hubs across Karnataka and understand the ground realities that exist there.
Sankalp's Disha grows bigger and better: Goes across Karnataka
Sankalp's brainchild, Disha, which makes sure to network all major blood banks across Bangalore city with a single toll free helpline, i.e., 1062 was started off close to 3 years ago. With massive publicity campaigns and dogmatic acclimatisation to laid down policies and ideas, the helpline today has become indespensable for Bangalore city.
