The above is an apheresis machine in which the apheresis process is done.the whole process of apheresis takes about 2 hours......but tell you what it's much simpler and easier than blood donation.A component of blood is taken from your body and the rest of the blood is sent back to you again.Immediately the component which is taken out is given to the patient.....so.....time for blood components separation which is done in normal blood donation is saved.......

In the diagram below, the process is illustrated. Whole blood is introduced into a chamber that is spinning, and the blood separates into components (P = plasma; PRP = platelet rich plasma; WBC = leukocytes; RBC = red blood cells) by gravity along the wall of the chamber. The component to be removed can be selected by moving the level of the aspiration device at the right. In this example, plasma is being removed.

Camp 5 @ Medical College

Continuing the good work from the past week, the Medical College came ahead to ensure continuous blood supply for emergencies by conducting a second Blood Donation Camp on Saturday, 02/06/07. All together 14 donors came ahead and shared the gift of life. The best part of the programme was the increased participation from our new Medical College Volunteers Shreya, Shirin and Shilpa. Three of the Blood Donation Organization volunteers helped ensure good donation experience. The venue for the camp was the Hospital Blood Bank.
