Thanks to the success of the Sankalp Program For Thalassemia Cure, people from different corners of the country look forward to our group for BMT for thalassemia. With haplo identical transplants also beginning to show some promise, BMT is now being sought by many families. The not for profit costs and the fine results has made even people of Kutch look forward to transplants.

From definition to identification to prevention,the Sankalp Patrika, in the last 3 months has carried some extremely important articles describing aspects related to adverse donor reactions. Although all our efforts must be focussed on providing the right ambience for blood donation, there are situations when one or more adverse events do occur.

Time for annual review-sharpening the axe for the year to come

April is a busy month at Sankalp India Foundation(SIF). This is the time when SIF reviews the work that the organisation has done in the past 1 year and lays out strategy for the year to come. Sankalp operates through teams which focus on different areas of the organisation's work. There is an emergency team, a team for the helpline, a team for thalassemia and so on. The process starts with accumulating all the performance and feedback data for the last year of work.

Enrolling More Children for Bone Marrow Transplant HLA Typing Across The Country

Thanks to the generous support from DKMS, HLA typing which usually costs a significant amount is made very affordable for several families in India. Through their support, Sankalp has been actively identifying candidates for BMT across the country. Over the last 3 months, nearly 500 HLA samples have been collected. Here is a snapshot of HLA typing events held at different places.

How planning mitigated winter blood shortage?

Sankalp India Foundation has been strategically planning the blood donation drives to meet the critical hour of blood shortages both in the summer and winter months, instead of clustering the blood donation camps on the days of national importance or when the city has enough stocks. The winters of this year, has also been very challenging, specially the last week of Dec and the first week of Jan'2019.
