After the end of a long busy day as I sat to look at some videos, I got a call from Dr Reshma. She informed me that a child who is taking treatment at our centre needed an urgent appendicectomy – removal of his appendix which had become infected and inflamed. It was a Saturday night.

When I walked up the stairs of Samraksha today I realised that a little girl was peeping down from the stairs. The look in her eyes told me that she was waiting for me. I shared the usual pleasantries with the family and walked across a hall full of children and parents straight to the doctor's room.

Project Samraksha, the Thalassemia Day Care Centre at Rashtrotthana Parishat celebrated the World Thalassemia Day on the 8th May 2016. The event was eagerly awaited and carefully planned by the children themselves.

Sankalp Program for Thalassemia Management took a leap forward on 5th May 2016 with the inauguration of the 'Jai Shivshakti Center for Thalassemia Management' at KLES Dr.

"The 13th Anniversary Program of Sankalp India Foundation was celebrated at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital Auditorium on 21 May 2016."

The event was an occasion for everyone involved to get together, review the work done in the last year, plan for the year to come and thank those who made it possible.

“Bulk transfer of blood between blood banks of all sectors permitted by NBTC” was published in the Volume 6 Issue 4 of Sankalp Patrika. The good news is that at least the State Government of Karnataka has accepted the guideline issues by NBTC in its totality in the Second Meeting of the Technical Expert Committee of KSBTC help on 11 March 2016.

He raised his hands for the customary greetings as he nervously walked into the counselling room. He was the father of a child who is being prepared for bone marrow transplantation for the last one year. Every Sunday he travels from Chamrajnagar so that we can give his child most carefully monitored therapy.
